You May Enjoy a Variety of Recreational Activities at Fire Island National Seashore |
Fire Island provides opportunities for sightseeing, hiking, and wildlife-viewing on its nature trails and along the entire seashore and on the grounds of William Floyd Estate.
Tent camping is only available at the walk-in Watch Hill Campground, accessible by ferry or private boat. With a backcountry camping permit, you may also stay overnight in the Otis Pike Fire Island High Dune Wilderness.
Boating and fishing are popular activities in the Great South Bay. Canoeing along salt marshes, between Watch Hill and Smith Point. Interpretive programs offered at all sites, schedules vary by season. Ocean beach recreation: lifeguards will be on duty at Watch Hill and Sailors Haven from June 25-Labor Day, 2005. |
