Places To Visit

Small boats are anchored in the bay with small crowd of picnickers and umbrellas on the shoreline.
The bay-side Talisman picnic area is a popular destination for local boaters.
Barrett Beach/ Talisman
Boardwalk follows along the shoreline to bayside picnic area.
Boardwalk follows along the shoreline to bayside picnic area.
Services are currently limited at Barrett Beach and Talisman.
The Barrett Beach/ Talisman area is located near the center of Fire Island National Seashore. It is across the Great South Bay from Bayport, Long Island. At this time, it is only accessible by private boat and foot.

Currently, Barrett Beach/Talisman offers a dock for boaters to load and unload only, a boardwalk trail leading across the island to the ocean beach, restrooms, and a picnic area. The new Barrett Beach dock, completed in the fall of 2003, was destroyed by severe ice damage in February 2004, delaying the opening of additional facilities and services at this site.
