They married March 17, 1905, in New York City. Although Theodore
Roosevelt had offered ER a White House wedding, she
decided to hold the ceremony at her cousin Susie
Parish's home on East 76th Street. TR, who was in
town to lead the annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade,
escorted
ER down the aisle. Endicott
Peabody, FDR's Groton headmaster, officiated at the
ceremony.
