Question: When was Val-Kill built?

Answer:

[picture: Stone Cottage under construction, 1925] Construction on Stone Cottage began in 1925, after Eleanor Roosevelt, Marion Dickerman and Nancy Cook signed a lease, drafted by Franklin D. Roosevelt, that gave them life interest in the property. Stone Cottage, designed by Henry Toombs with regular input from FDR, was completed in 1926. The three women split the $12,000 construction costs.
