Grade Level: 1 - 3
Duration: 20 - 30 minutes
Location: classroom or outside
Objective: The students will be able to write a poem using describing words to describe their field trip experience
Materials: lined paper
pencil
Vocabulary: Woodland culture
burial mounds
describing words
Procedure:
  1. To help the children remember and reflect on their trip to the monument, have them write a poem using describing words.  The children could describe what they saw or sounds they heard.  They can do this project individually, in small groups, or as a whole class.
  2. Brainstorm with the children some words that would describe their trip to the monument and write them on the board.
