Duration: 30 minutes
Location: classroom
Objective: The students will be able to create a mound shape they saw at the Effigy Mounds National Monument out of clay
Materials: clay

Procedure:
  1. Review the 4 types of mounds found at the monument
  2. Tell the students that they are to create a mound shape out of clay.  Let them choose the mound shape they will create
  3. Distribute the clay and let them explore how to form their mound
  4. When they are finished creating their mound, have them label the type of mound it is
  5. Set the mounds in a safe area to harden
