| Procedure: |
- Review or discuss with the children how the Woodland people make their own tools and
pots for cooking and eating. Also discuss with the that the Woodland people got the
clay they used for pottery from the Mississippi River
- Tell the students that they will be making pots just like the Woodland people did a long
time ago
- Distribute the clay and let them explore how to form their pot
- After they have made a pot they are happy with, let them use a toothpick to draw designs
or small pictures on the pot
- Set the pots in a safe area to harden
