through the analysis of artifacts, burials, art, and attempts to explain the supernatural. |

| Procedure: |
This crossword is set up for students to use during their
visit to Effigy Mounds National Monument. Student copies of the Fire Point Trail Guide Booklet should be runoff and
provided to students prior to their arrival at the monument. In order to successfully
complete the crossword they will have take the "Fire Point Trail Walk" with
adult chaperones (and with a Ranger if available). The interpretive signs and other items
along the trail will also have to be analyzed. Students will also have to study the
artifacts in the museum and watch the film "The Earth Shapers", both of which
are available at Effigy Mounds National Monument. |
