Procedure:
  1. Play Battleship with mounds by using a linear mound like you would in the real Battleship game. Using a 10 x 10 grid "hide" eight mounds of various lengths.   Each student will have their own chart to keep track of misses and hits.  They will need to listen very carefully in order to mark the corresponding coordinate for each person's turn.
  2. Starting at one side of the room have a student guess a coordinate.  Tell the student if that particular coordinate is a hit or a miss.  Repeat with the next student.  Each hit gets another turn.  The game ends when a student discovers the final mound.
  3. Variation:  hide mounds of all types, conical, effigy, etc.  For example:
    1. bird effigy
    2. bear effigy
    3. compound
    4. conical
    5. linear
