LEHIGH VALLEY REGION
Overview
Easton’s downtown is host to many amenities, including the distinguished Two
Rivers Landing, home of the
National Canal Museum and
The Crayola Factory. A trip up river would discover Walnutport’s carefully restored
locktender’s house and Slatington, the slate belt capital of the corridor. To the west of
Easton is Bethlehem, where the industrial grandeur of Bethlehem Steel is coupled
with the annual excitement of Musikfest. The city of Allentown features the
Museum of Indian Culture and the Liberty Bell Shrine which marks the hiding
place where the Liberty Bell was housed during the Revolutionary War.
In addition to its historical significance in resource and transport innovation,
the Lehigh Valley Region is home to a variety of cultural activities and richly
diverse ethnic groups. Thriving industries and beautiful landscapes contrast
and interconnect the people and communities of the region.
The Lehigh Valley Region is located at the center of the Corridor and is marked
by an array of distinct towns and cities that contributed to the region's vibrancy.
