In 1832 the Delaware Canal, spanning 60 miles between Easton and Bristol, linked with the Lehigh Navigation Canal. The canal provided a convenient and economic way of transporting over 33,000,000 tons of coal and 6,000,000 tons of other cargo between the Anthracite regions and Philadelphia before ceasing operations in 1932.

This region, located in beautiful Bucks County, PA, is rich with multiple ethnic histories. The canal remains intact with canal boat rides being offered in New Hope.
