Huffman Prairie Flying Field, a National Historic Landmark, is a seven-sided, 84-acre irregular pasture in which the Wright brothers perfected the airplane and created the worlds first airport after their return from Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in 1903. It is also the spot where Wilbur and Orville learned to control and maneuver their powered machine and where they taught themselves to fly during 1904 and 1905. Many of the worlds first pilots were trained here, including some of Americas first military pilots. Today, you can see a replica of the 1905 hangar and retrace the Wright brothers footsteps and flight path.
