Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail Tour
Peninsula Feeder

Cuyahoga Valley National Park Logo

Photo: Peninsula Feeder RuinsTo remedy the problem of an inadequate water supply, canal engineers built a feeder channel to bring water from the Cuyahoga River into the canal.

The free-standing stone bridge once carried the canal towpath over the feeder. The stone walls beside the trail are the remnants of the feeder channel.

An exhibit at this location contains an illustration of the lay-out of the dam, feeder, and related structures.

Location: About 2/10 of a mile north of the Lock 29 Trailhead (51K) on the Towpath Trail.
