Photo: High-level Bridge and DamThe Brecksville/Northfield High-level Bridge carries State Route 82 over the Cuyahoga Valley at the Pinery Narrows. Today it connects the communities of Brecksville and Sagamore Hills. It was constructed in 1930 and 1931of steel-reinforced concrete and carries the road surface 145 feet above the valley floor. This bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Ohio Historic Bridge Inventory. It was designed by Alfred M. Felgate who was a civil engineer, deputy county engineer and bridge engineer for Cuyahoga County for over twenty years.

It is a bridge that embodies the distinctive characteristics of concrete bridge construction of the 1920s, however, it also displays the tendency to develop thinner supporting members. This balance between thinness and safety gives the structure an elegance that is sought and prized by engineers.

Location: 1/10 of a mile north of the Station Road Bridge Trailhead in Brecksville, OH.
