Junior Ranger Program
Upon arrival at the monument, parents can pick up the
Craters of the Moon Junior Ranger Newspaper for children ages 5 through
12 at the visitor center desk. Children 5 through 8 years old have to
complete 3 of the activities found in the paper, and children 9 through
12 years old have to complete 4 activities to earn a Jr. Ranger Badge.
Activities to chose from consist of:
- completing the games in the paper
- attending ranger programs
- hiking a trail in the monument
- collecting a small bag of trash or 3 aluminum cans for recycling
- pledging that they did their best to protect the monument by
staying on the trails and not picking wildflowers, collecting rocks,
feeding animals
When the child has completed enough activities, they can stop in
at the monument's visitor center and receive their junior ranger
badge from a park ranger.
