New growth, April 10, 2002
By April 10, 2002 new growth was beginning to show.
 Same view, a little over 1 year later. By spring 2003 the area had plenty of new growth. This is how it looked on May 10, 2003.

On April 10, 2002, work had not yet begun on this area.
This is the same view as the image to the left, after work had begun.
 By May 23, 2002 underbrush had been removed, and regrowth was beginning.
1 year later
By April 15, 2003, more excess fuel had been removed by had and regrowth had begun.

WORK IN PROGRESS

Mechanical Fuel Reduction Sign
The Mechanical Fuel Reduction will increase wildlife habitat, reduce fuel loads, and help restore the battlefield to its 1781 appearance.
Heavy Equipment Sign
This sign warns visitors that heavy machinery removes underbrush and trees to improve the appearance and to preserve the battlefield and surrounding community from fire.
The machine starts work. The Magnum machine cuts trees and underbrush and grinds them into mulch. Work In Progress Work in progress.

To the right of the Last Overlook before work began. On May 23, 2002, this is how the area to the right of the last battlefield overlook appeared before work began. Work on being done at the last overlook. The Magnum machine removes undergrowth at the last overlook.
