The Dreams of Many People Converge in Glen Echo.
This program is suitable for students in grades fourth through sixth.
Glen Echo, Maryland evolved as a community based upon the dreams of Edward and Edwin Baltzley. In 1891, the Baltzley brothers established a National Chautauqua Assembly in the Maryland countryside near Washington, D.C. Their dreams of an educational and cultural community provided a unique opportunity for Clara Barton. The Glen Echo development offered Miss Barton an opportunity to realize her dreams of establishing a permanent National Headquarters for the American Red Cross.
The Dreams of Many People Converge in Glen Echo program blends the unique link between two National Park Service sites, Clara Barton National Historic Site and Glen Echo Park. The program focuses on Miss Barton's lifetime of service to others, how she formed her dreams of an American Red Cross and how she worked towards accomplishing her dreams.
