Clara Barton National Historic Site and Glen Echo Park’s Adventure Theatre are delighted to announce a new and unique field trip opportunity for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade elementary school students. The field trip includes the 45-minute play, Clara Barton—The Courage Within, performed on-stage, at Adventure Theatre by the theatre’s professional troupe of actors. Following the play, students will tour Clara Barton National Historic Site with National Park Service Rangers for approximately 45 minutes. This event is an unprecedented, professional venture sponsored jointly by the National Park Service and Adventure Theatre, the longest running children’s theatre in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The programs may be scheduled on Tuesdays during the 2005 - 2006 school year. The complete experience will take up to 3 hours, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The cost of the play is $7.00 per person, payable to Adventure Theatre. The National Park Service does not collect a fee for the tour of Clara Barton National Historic Site. The minimum requirement for each production is 50 persons; the maximum is 80. Reservations and full payment must be made at least two weeks in advance of a field trip. Additional information for Adventure Theatre is available at: http://www.adventuretheatre.org/ Teachers may make arrangements for students to eat a brown bag lunch at Glen Echo Park following the play, either inside a classroom or outside, if weather permits. A playground is available for students. National Park Service Rangers conduct tours of Clara Barton National Historic Site at 11:00 am and 12:00 pm. Tours are limited to 40 people each hour. Groups exceeding 40 people will be scheduled for both the 11:00 am and Noon tours. Clara Barton NHS is located adjacent to Adventure Theatre which is in Glen Echo Park, 7300 MacArthur Boulevard, Glen Echo, Maryland. It is an easy walk from Adventure Theatre to Clara Barton National Historic Site. There is plenty of parking for buses in the main parking lot. THIS INCLUDES ALL BUSES. PRIVATE VEHICLES OF MORE THAN ONE TON CAPACITY ARE ALSO FORBIDDEN. THIS LAW IS STRICTLY ENFORCED.
