The masonry fort and its surrounding land comprise 25 acres in historic downtown St. Augustine, Florida, the oldest continually occupied European settlement in North America (since 1565).

The Castillo de San Marcos is open every day except Dec. 25 from 8:45 am to 5:15 pm. (Last ticket is issued at 4:45 pm.) Adults (16 and older)-- $6.00; children age 15 and under are free.

While in the area, you might also like to visit Fort Matanzas National Monument. Located about 14 miles south of the Castillo, this small outpost fort guarded the southern approaches to the city.
