Have your students make up a dictionary of current slang words (excluding
inappropriate ones), providing both the word and its definition.
In groups, compare findings and create a group dictionary of refined
definitions.
In editorial meetings, have the group create a final comprehensive
list in dictionary style, with definitions, diacritcal marks, parts
of speech, other forms of the word, and a sample sentence.
Create a final dictionary booklet with cover art and make a copy for
each. You may assign only a portion of this activity or follow up to
the end.
