Clues To You

Related Activity: Connemara Clue

Carl Sandburg was a writer. Mozart was a composer. What are your students? How do they identify themselves?

Discuss the idea that you don't neccessarily have to be famous to "be somebody." We all have talents that are worthy of being recognized.

Have your students pick a word they feel describes themselves. Have them look around their house and/or bedroom and write down a list of 10 clues or items that help illustrate their chosen word. Have them write an essay answering the following question:

What personal life experiences help shape and encourage or influence this part of you?

This activity can help connect the student to Carl Sandburg and help them realize they also have the potential to succeed at their dreams and be recognized for their talents.

Time: 45 min.
