Teacher's Hub

anthropomorphize—To describe something not human with human qualities or characteristics. We anthropomorphize all the time: the man in the moon, mother nature, a weeping willow tree, an angry looking sea. We say a chair has arms and may call a dog, boy or girl.

context— The environment, surroundings, or relationship of things -- In terms of vocabulary, using context is a means of understanding an unfamiliar word by looking at the meaning of the surrounding text. He was exhausted by noon because he had not slept at all the night before. Having to pay for the window he broke depleted the boy's allowance.
