EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Permanent Employment
If you are considering a career with the Federal Government for
the first time and want to apply for permanent positions that
include benefits you must apply through the Office of Personnel
Management (OPM). See http://www.usajobs.opm.gov
for job openings, OPM will accept applications only for the specific
jobs open on the bulletin board . The jobs are updated weekly
and some position may only be open for one week, so check the
OPM web site often. Once you submit your application and qualify
for the position, the requesting agency will be sent a “certificate”
listing the qualified applicants in score order. The agency will
then be able to select from the top three applicants, as long
as they do not pass over a veteran to select a lower ranking non-
veteran.
If you are a current government employee or have “reinstatement
eligibility” or are eligible under the Veteran’s Readjustment
Act or qualify for Outstanding Scholar you may be able to apply
to jobs only open to those with government “status”.
If you need any help with this process or have questions,
call Donita at (435) 425-3791 ext. 122 or write an E-Mail message
to donita_pace@nps.gov.
The Careers with America job hotline is also available by calling
(912) 757-3000. When calling Careers with America you will need
a touch-tone phone to ask for listing of positions by state,
job, and qualifications. To request forms from OPM you may call
(303) 969-7055 and leave a voice message or see http://www.opm.gov
for more details.
To apply for these jobs you must submit a resume and OF-306
Declaration for Federal Employment OR an OF-612 (Optional Application
for Federal Employment) and OF-306 (Declaration for Federal
Employment) and any other information required in the vacancy
announcement. These can be obtained on line at http://www.opm.gov/forms/index.htm.
