The 165-mile long Ozark Highlands Trail (OHT) extends from Lake Ft. Smith State Park to Richland Valley at Woolum. The 165-mile long Ozark Highlands Trail (OHT) extends from Lake Ft. Smith State Park to Richland Valley at Woolum. If you plan on hiking a section of the OHT, which begins or ends at Woolum, realize that both the Richland Creek crossing and the Woolum river crossing can be swift and deep in winter and spring. Because of the inherent danger of these fords, we recommend selecting an alternative route during these times. Dogs are not permitted on park trails. Trail maps and guides are available for sale through the Eastern National Bookstore, park headquarters, and at all visitor contact station locations.
