Students investigate the meanings of freedom. By searching for clues, students will discover the rights and privileges of master and slave. Using those clues, they'll discuss the choices and consequences that faced the people who lived on this plantation.
Students experience aspects of slave culture such as music, foods, and crafts that survived slavery to create the cultural blend we have in Virginia today. While exploring things that were part of Booker T. Washington's life, students discover how this slave culture survived and is evident in America's quilt of cultures.
