Investments in Our Parks:
The Fee Demonstration Program
Your fees are being used at this site to repair and improve park facilities. For additional information about projects in this park see below, or contact the park Superintendent.

In 1996, the Department of the Interior and the National Park Service announced a multi-year fee demonstration test program authorized by Congress. This fee demonstration program was designed to provide funds to complete a backlog of repair and maintenance projects in the national parks. Monies collected at individual sites will primarily remain in those areas; 80% of the new or increased fees will be used in the parks collecting them and the remaining 20% will be distributed for use by other units of the National Park System. All funds will be used for specific improvements such as hiking trails, improved roads and trails, interpretive programs and exhibits, and cleaner rest facilities.
