These
rooms are believed to have been used by the fort's laborers. The laborers
performed a variety of tasks around the fort, not the least of which were
gathering firewood, loading and unloading wagons, pressing robes and furs,
cutting hay (grasses), and hauling heavy boxes, crates, and barrels. However
it seems many of these people were particularly noted for their skill
in handling livestock and working with adobe.
 Bent's
Fort represented an incredible mix of frontier cultures. No where was
that more evident than in this area, where Spanish, French, German, and
English flowed from the lips of workers.
