Calling All Kids! Become a Badlands Junior Ranger This SummerEvery wanted your very own park ranger badge? If you are between the ages of 7 and 12 , you can earn your own by attending a Junior Ranger Program in Badlands National Park at the Cedar Pass Campground Amphitheater at 10:30 a.m. each day. Programs last 45 minutes and range from hikes to games to crafts. At the completion of the program, you will be awarded your Junior Ranger badge, made especially for Badlands National Park. You will become a member of an elite club that is open to everyone. Those attending should wear closed toe shoes and sunscreen. Parents are encouraged to attend as well! If you still want to become a Junior Ranger but can't make the 10:30 a.m. program, you can become a Junior Ranger anytime by purchasing a Badlands Junior Ranger Booklet for $1.50 from Badlands Natural History Association. To earn your badge, you must: Complete the activities in the booklet. Attend one park ranger program or view the park movie, Buried Fossils, Living Prairie. Have your booklet reviewed by a certified Junior Ranger Certifier, also known as staff at the Ben Reifel Visitor Center. You may purchase your Junior Ranger booklet at the Ben Reifel Visitor Center or through mail order by sending $2.50 per booklet ($1.50 plus $1.00 for shipping and handling) to Badlands Natural History Association; P.O. Box 47; Interior, South Dakota 57750 Specify your age so you will be sent the appropriate booklet. These bookstores feature educational materials on natural and cultural resource topics. |
