BADLANDS NATIONAL PARK AND NATIONAL PARK SERVICE WEBSITE AND ELECTRONIC MAIL ACCESS RESTORED

After a two month absence from the Internet, Badlands National Park is now rewired to the world. The park can send and receive electronic mail. Additionally, the park website - http://www.nps.gov/badl/ - is once again available for those wanting to plan a visit to South Dakota's largest national park or for students conducting research into the park's resources. Additionally, Minuteman Missile National Historic Site (http://www.nps.gov/mimi/) is also available again to those who would like to learn a little more about the state's newest national park.

From early December, 2001 until February 11, 2002, a temporary Internet ban served as a security measure to safeguard information involved in an Indian Land Trust lawsuit against the U.S. Department of the Interior. While neither Badlands National Park nor Minuteman Missile National Historic Site hold any Trust information on their websites, the parks were included in a court-ordered shutdown of all internet connections within the Department.
