Spring Education Internships
Brief Description of Duties:Assist park education specialist in preparing and presenting a wide variety of education programs both in a classroom setting and in the park. Must be familiar with instructional techniques, preparing lesson plans, and working with teachers. Topics include sedimentary geology, vertebrate paleontology, mixed grass prairie ecology, and homesteading on the Great Plains. What Is Provided:Free housing in a shared one-bedroom apartment, fully furnished. Uniform. Reimbursement up to $1000 for food and travel expenses. Any expenses incurred above $1000 are the responsibility of the intern. How To Apply:
John C. Clark Paleo-Education Internship
Brief Description of Duties:Prepare and present talks and walks to the visiting public on geological and paleontological resources of Badlands National Park with additional topics including mixed grass prairie ecology and park wildlife (35%). Staff Ben Reifel Visitor Center, providing informal education and conducting sales of educational materials (20%). Conduct roving educational contacts on park trails (25%). This intern also coordinates the Annual Focus on Fossil Education Week, a week of special events focusing on fossil resources in the park and the importance of paleontology, or Focus on Archaeology Education Week. What Is Provided:Free housing in a shared one-bedroom apartment, fully furnished. Uniform. Reimbursement up to $1000 for food and travel expenses. Any expenses incurred above $1000 are the responsibility of the intern. Additional Requirements:Applicants must be majoring in geology, paleontology, physical geography, or another earth science, and have completed a minimum of 24 hours of college level earth science with at least one a lab course. Enos Mills Nature Education Internship
Brief Description of Duties:Prepare and present talks and walks to the visiting public on geological, paleontological, and prairie resources of Badlands National Park (35%). Staff Ben Reifel Visitor Center, providing informal education and conducting sales of educational materials (20%). Conduct roving educational contacts on park trails (25%). This intern also coordinates the Annual Focus on Fire Management Week, a week of special events focusing on managed fire as a resource tool in a prairie environment, or Focus on Endangered Species Week, featuring endangered species recovery.
What Is Provided:Free housing in a shared one-bedroom apartment, fully furnished. Uniform. Reimbursement up to $1000 for food and travel expenses. Any expenses incurred above $1000 are the responsibility of the intern. Additional Requirements:Applicants may be majoring in any subject area, but must have completed a minimum of 24 hours in any natural sciences with at least one a lab course. Cultural Resource Education Internships
Brief Description of Duties:Prepare and present talks and walks to the visiting public of Badlands National Park on topics relating to the natural and cultural history of the park.(35%). Staff Ben Reifel Visitor Center, providing informal education and conducting sales of educational materials (20%). Conduct roving educational contacts on park trails (25%). This intern may also coordinate the annual Focus on Archaeology Education Week, and provides assistance in administration of the park's museum collections. What Is Provided:Free housing in a shared one-bedroom apartment, fully furnished. Uniform. Reimbursement up to $1000 for food and travel expenses. Any expenses incurred above $1000 are the responsibility of the intern. How To Apply:
