Carillon Belltower

American Memorial Park's carillon belltower honors those who died in the Mariana Islands and the Pacific War during World War II. A personal gift from Ambassador F. Haydn Williams to the people of the Northern Mariana Islands, the carillon adds a new dimension to the Park and its mission of honoring those who fought and died in the Marianas campaign.

The carillon was dedicated in November 1995 on the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II. Adjoining the carillon belltower is a granite monument, dedicated in 1987 by the then Vice President George Bush (click here to view inscription).

The carillon belltower rings every half-hour, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. Musical selections including the American and CNMI Anthems, Armed Services Anthems, and popular music with uplifting themes can be heard at 8:00 a.m., 12:00 noon, 6:00 p.m., and 7:50 p.m. everyday. At 8:10 p.m. each evening, Taps is played to honor those who lost their lives during the Marianas campaign of World War II.
