AMISTAD NRA REOPENS BLACKBRUSH BOAT RAMP, CLOSES 277N RAMP
Amistad National Recreation Area Superintendent Alan W. Cox announced today
Blackbrush boat ramp will reopen Friday, October 17. Recent heavy rains in the
Amistad Reservoir drainage have brought lake levels up dramatically. The lake
level has risen nearly 4 ½ feet in the last week; the current depth at
the dam is just over 181 feet. This is the highest level since April 2000; Blackbrush
boat ramp was last open in April 2001.
Due to rising lake levels, the boat ramp at 277N will be closed effective Friday, October 17. Cox said the current conditions at 277N are not safe for boat launching. Cox also cautions boaters to be aware of new and changing hazards associated with the still rising water level, particularly around shorelines.
Amistad National Recreation Area headquarters is located on US Highway 90W,
Del Rio TX, and is open Monday through Friday 8am-5pm, except holidays. For
more information, visitors may call 830.775.7491, tune in to AM 1540 near the
lake, or visit the park's web site at www.nps.gov/amis.
