AMISTAD NRA OPENS NEW VISITOR NFORMATION CENTER

Amistad National Recreation Area has opened its new Visitor Information Center near Lake Amistad, on US Highway 90W across from Three Rivers RV Park. It is located 5 ½ miles west of the old park headquarters. The new facility will be open every day of the week from 8am to 5pm, and is closed Thanksgiving Day, December 25, and January 1. The information center offers all park services, including exhibits, and an expanded book store. New lake use permits are also available. The new permits are valid for one year from date of purchase, unlike the old permits which expired the end of the calendar year.

According to Superintendent Alan Cox, “We’re excited about the new information center. We’ve installed some spectacular exhibits, and more than tripled the sales area for our Big Bend Natural History Association outlet. We’re adding many new titles and are expanding our sales selection. I’m proud of the new facility and the hard work our staff accomplished to move into this great location.”

NOTE: Fishing tournament and other special use permits will still be obtained and processed at park headquarters.

Amistad National Recreation Area Visitor Information Center is located on US Highway 90W near Blackbrush boat ramp, Del Rio TX, and is open daily 8am-5pm, except Thanksgiving Day, December 25, and January 1.
