Amistad
National Recreation Area is located near the town of Del Rio,
TX. Lake Amistad has a reputation for some of the best
bass fishing in Texas, and has attracted anglers to this area
for many years, and therefore, many recreational bass fishing
tournaments are held here. Amistad NRA welcomes new as well
as traditional tournament users, and we are available to discuss
all aspects of tournament scheduling and logistics.
Amistad
is an international reservoir -- the United States-Mexico
border is marked by buoys that follow the historic channel
of the Rio Grande. You may boat on either side, but if you
plan to fish on the Mexican side be sure to have a Mexican
fishing license and boat permit.
NOTE: Mexican law strictly prohibits possession of guns,
ammunition, and illegal drugs. Anyone caught crossing
into Mexican waters with said contraband will receive a mandatory
prison sentence and a very substantial fine.
The City of Del Rio is a hospitable
and full-service community for tournaments, including about
20 hotels and motels, 3 Bed & Breakfasts, around
10 campgrounds and RV Parks, and over 30 restaurants. The
city also supports boat and motor sales and repair shops,
and numerous stores featuring the latest in tackle, lures,
and fishing equipment.
