Education

SEA Teaching Assistants/Interns (5-6 positions) - Schoodic Eduation Adventure (SEA) teaching assistants/interns work with the SEA Program, the Resource Acadia Program, and the Artist-in-Residence Program. Most of the duties are with the SEA Program, which offers a curriculum-based residential program for 5th through 8th grade students and combines hands-on field experience with classroom activities. Additional duties include assisting with group meetings and general interpretive roving. Dates: August to November (variable 10-16 week positions). Stipend: $100/week (32-40 hours) plus housing and occasional meals. More information.

Education Interns (2 positions in both spring and fall) - Interns work with park's education staff in presenting programs for grades 3-8. Programs are curriculum based and focus on ecology or history. Custom programs and special projects related to environmental education are also possible. Park orientation and program training are provided. Dates: April to mid-June or late August through October. Stipend: $100/week (32 hours) plus housing. More information.

Interpretation

Raptor Intern (1 position for whole season, or 2 separate positions) - The raptor internship is composed of two parts: peregrine falcon interpretation and Hawkwatch interpretation. Peregrine falcon interpretation includes on-site interpretation for the general public, monitoring falcon behavior and habitat use, and preparing weekly and season-ending reports on the falcons. Hawkwatch interpretation includes identifying passing migrants and discussing their conservation and natural history; recording species sighted, compiling data, and preparing a year-end report; and making an occasional on-site presentation to school groups or giving demonstrations at the park visitor center. Both positions require answering questions about park resources, facilities, and services. Dates: Mid-May to mid-October (or split into mid-May to mid-August and mid-August to mid-October). Stipend: $100/week (32 hours) plus housing. More information.
