Hiking is very popular in Acadia. The bare granite summits offer outstanding views of a mountain and ocean landscape. They also harbor some of Acadia's rarest plants. For the last several years we have been monitoring visitor use of some summits and contacting hikers about ways to reduce human impacts in these sensitive habitats.
