What Do Rangers Do??



There is a lot of history to learn about at Acadia.

Islesford Historical Museum.
You can learn about the history of early settlers, fishermen, and sailors at the Islesford Historical Museum.

During the 1700's and 1800's many sailing ships visited Mount Desert Island to pick up supplies of wood, ice, and dried fish.
Bridge on the carriage roads.

Another part of Acadia's history is its carriage roads. These roads were first started in 1915. They are used today for biking, walking, and horseback riding. No cars are allowed.

The 1947 fire is part of Acadia's history too. It burned 17,000 acres changing the look of Mount Desert Island.
