Beech Mountain Fire Tower
Beech Mountain fire towerThe metal fire tower at the right was flown to the top of Beech Mountain by a helicopter! It was used in the 1960's and 1970's as a lookout structure for fires. The lookout ranger hiked up and down the mountain each day. This job was especially important during droughts when fire danger was high. Would you have liked to have this job?
