Park Museum Collection Profile
Weir Farm National Historic Site

Collection Summary

The site preserves the structures, objects and historic scene associated with American painter J. Alden Weir and his followers. While the size of the existing collection is small, the scope of the park's collections calls for the acquisition of works of art by J. Alden Weir, other artists of the group known as "The Ten," and other artists who visited Weir.

The national significance of Weir Farm and its collections derives from its role as home and workplace of Weir, as a place of uninterrupted artistic activity since his death in 1919, and the high degree of integrity of the landscape and structures.
