Summary | The museum collection includes the furnishings and decorative arts in Augustus Saint-Gaudens's home, "Aspet"; casts of Augustus Saint-Gaudens's (1848-1907) sculptures, the artist's working models, cameos, coins, portrait bas-reliefs and monumental sculpture, including a heroic plaster cast of the Robert Gould Shaw Memorial and the original base of the Farragut Monument; and artwork by members of Saint-Gaudens's family and the Cornish art colony, illustrating his influence in late 19th century American art and sculpture; as well as small archeological and biological collections. Art works are on exhibit in three historic structures, including Saint-Gaudens's Little Studio and Galleries. Archival materials include sheet music, historic and contemporary photographs (including the de Witt C. Ward Photograph Collection), and glass plate negatives. |
