A hasty search of the area was conducted by rangers, but had to be suspended due to darkness. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Humboldt County Search and Rescue, and rangers again searched the area the following morning. Around 10 a.m., they found the man’s body in an area not accessible to the general public. The Humboldt County coroner’s office has ruled the death a suicide.
