New Assistant Wildland Fire Ecologist Selected For Alaska's Parks [Printer-friendly text version] Please welcome Jen Northway as the new assistant fire ecologist for the Alaska National Park Service. Jen comes to the NPS from BLM's Alaska Fire Service, where she worked with the fire ecology program as a fire and fuels technician and a logistic coordinator dispatcher. Recently she detailed as the program coordinator for the Alaska Fire Science Consortium. Jen will be based at the Fairbanks office and available to serve all Alaska parks. The region's fire ecology program provides science-based information to guide fire and land management planning, decisions and practices in order to maintain and understand fire-adapted ecosystems. Jen has great skills in fire monitoring, GIS and data management. These along with her strong aptitude for communications, outreach and logistics will move the program forward. More Information...
