Imogene K. Anaya, human resources officer for the Santa Fe Servicing Human Resources Office, will retire on December 29th after more than 38 years with the National Park Service. 

Imogene began her career as a summer aid in the finance division in the former Southwest Regional Office while attending school full-time. She was hired into her first permanent position in 1975 and began her long career in human resources, starting in 1977 as a staffing assistant. 

During the 1995 reorganization from the regional office to the Southwest Servicing Office, Imogene was promoted to the position of human resources officer.  She led the way for the myriad of changes the reorganization brought, including the consolidation of the Southwest Region into the Intermountain Region. 

Imogene was again instrumental in leading her human resources team and the parks she serviced through the human resources transformation beginning in 2007. The transformation which brought the NPS human resources function “into the 21st century” included the transition from servicing personnel offices to servicing human resources offices, implementation of the automated USASTAFFING recruitment system, conversion to electronic official personnel files, and the consolidation of classification and processing to the human resources operating center.  

Imogene’s professionalism and dedication to delivering the highest caliber of customer service in the area of human resources has been recognized through a number of awards during her career, including the DOI Customer Service Excellence Award in 2003 and the DOI Superior Service Award in 2007.   Her knowledge, integrity, and leadership will be missed; however, her willingness to mentor other human resources staff will help to pave the path for future leaders.

Looking forward to traveling and spending time with the grandchildren, Imogene and her husband Danny will continue to reside in Santa Fe.
