Southeast Region celebrates the achievements of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, collectively and individually, by awarding both the individual and group awards to Occupational Safety and Health Manager Charles "Charlie" Daniels and the entire park staff, 300 strong.
Charlie was instrumental in reducing the park's recordable incident and lost time rates to levels not seen in at least 20 years. He focused on Smokies' specific OSHA program to ensure compliance parkwide and championed Operational Leadership training for all park staff, permanent and seasonal. His personal leadership and commitment exemplies risk management leadership.
The group award for 2011 went to the entire Smokies' staff, as they worked in concert to provide a safe workplace for every coworker and an enjoyable environment for each visitor.
Congratulations to Charlie and the GRSM team -
