GS-0303-5/6 Administrative Support Assistant

Big Bend National Park is seeking an administrative support assistant for its resource and visitor protection division.

The person selected for t his positions will play a key role within the chief ranger’s office, helping to manage a $2.5 million divisional budget and a staff of 23 law enforcement rangers and support staff.

Big Bend National Park is the 15th largest national park in the system, encompassing 801,000 acres of Chihuahuan Desert with varied scenery and diversity of plant and animal life.  The park community consists of 250 people, including employees of the NPS, concessioner, Border Patrol, Postal Service, and school and their families. A state-accredited elementary school (K-8) is located at Panther Junction. The park has a post office, gas stations, camper stores, restaurant, and lodge.

Recreational opportunities abound for the serious outdoor enthusiast. Activities include hiking, bird watching, backcountry exploration, camping, bicycling, and river rafting.  An active employee/community association sponsors social events throughout the year.  Elevations vary throughout the park from 1850’ to 7825.’
