Rocky Mountain National Park is advertising for a supervisory protection ranger.
Located along the Continental Divide, this 266,000-acre park features stunning mountains, alpine lakes and streams, alpine tundra, and meadows where wildlife abounds. With nearly 150 lakes, 473 miles of streams, and over 350 miles of trails, Rocky Mountain is a park for the adventurer with a variety of recreational opportunities available.
This position is located on the east side of the park. The nearest community is Estes Park, Colorado, which is approximately two miles from park headquarters. Estes Park includes a school (grades kindergarten through twelfth grade), a post office, restaurants, grocery stores, medical centers, shops, etc. There are numerous options for outdoor activities, including hiking, fishing, rock climbing, biking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. Denver, Colorado, which has a major airport, cultural events, and several professional sports teams, is an hour and a half away.
Government housing may be available in the park headquarters area. Housing assignments are made through a bid process. The person selected will have to reside within 15 minutes response time from duty station of Estes Park or apply for park housing.
