The long-awaited NPS Firearms Disposition Center, formerly located at Springfield Armory, will soon be reborn, this time at Great Smoky Mountains. An announcement has been issued for a supply clerk to run the center.
Duties will consist of gathering and processing firearms slated for destruction (non NPS-issued) from the parks and from the Park Police and preparing them for destruction. Besides administering this program, the person selected for this position will also have the collateral duty of servicing duty weapons as a rifle, shotgun, and Sig armorer.
