VALLEY FORGE NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK
Bathroom Facility Damaged By Fire

[Printer-friendly text version]
During the early morning hours of March 29th, the park was notified of a fire in the bathroom facility located in the Betzwood section of the park. Responding Lower Providence Fire and Police Department personnel found the bathroom facility on fire as well as a nearby picnic table and trash can. Although the fire was quickly extinguished, it caused extensive damage. The Betzwood area of the park receives significant visitation during this time of year due to its access to the Schuylkill River Trail as well as several other local trails, a picnic area, and boat launch for access to the Schuylkill River. The fire remains under joint investigation by the National Park Service and local and state law enforcement.
