WHITE SANDS NATIONAL MONUMENT
White Sands Reaches Out To Military Neighbors

[Printer-friendly text version]

White Sands National Monument has stretched out a welcoming hand to the surrounding military community. Since the inception of the free annual military pass, White Sands has issued nearly 10,000 of the passes to active duty members at Holloman Air Force Base, White Sand Missile Range, and Fort Bliss Army Base.

Park staff coordinated visits at each of these bases to personally distribute passes to active duty members and their families. The response has been overwhelming.

White Sands is completed surrounded by White Sands Missile Range and Holloman Air Force Base and has a close working relationship with the military.

“The military pass program provides White Sands National Monument with a great opportunity strengthen relationships with our military neighbors and welcome them to the monument and to parks around the country,” said Superintendent Marie Frias Sauter.

Park staff plan to continue to build on this success and offer more programming and base visits.
