Alaska’s state and federal lands are rich and varied. The Alaska Public Lands Information Centers, inter-agency centers located in Tok, Fairbanks, Anchorage, and Ketchikan, allow visitors to stop by or write to just onespot for all the information needed to plan on an Alaskan adventure, whilealso educating people about Alaska's public lands, people, natural resourcesand recreational opportunities.

    Anchorage:
    Summer: daily, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
    Otherwise: Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    Fairbanks:
    Summer: daily, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
    Otherwise: Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

    Tok:
    May 15 through September: daily, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
    October through May 15: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    Ketchikan:
    Summer: daily, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    Otherwise: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    CLIMATE, RECOMMENDED CLOTHING:
    In the summers, Alaska is wet! Always dress in warm layers to remaindry. In the winter, be prepared for arctic temperatures.

    DIRECTIONS:
    Anchorage:
    The center is located at 605 W 4th Avenue, downtown Anchorage. It is located within the "Old Federal Building" on the corner of 4thAvenue and F Street.

    Fairbanks:
    The center is located at 250 Cushman Street, downtown Fairbanks onthe corner of 3rd and Cushman Streets in the Historic Courthouse Square.

    Tok:
    Along the world-famous Alaskan Highway (Milepost #1314.)

    Ketchikan:
    Downtown, at 50 Main Street, between Bawder, Mill, Main, & SpruceMill Streets one block from the cruise ship dock

    TRANSPORTATION:
    You can arrive at the cities of Tok, Anchorage and Fairbanks by automobileor plane. Ketchikan is approached only by boat or plane. (Once inside thecenters, however, it's foot traffic only.)

    FEES, COSTS, RATES:
    The Anchorage, Fairbanks and Tok centers have no admission fees. The Ketchikan center charges a $5.00 user fee during the summer season.

    FACILITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES:
    Visitor Center/Exhibits:
    Exhibits on regions of Alaska including culture, recreation opportunities,wildlife and much more. Some centers offer short videos on a variety ofsubjects and activities pertaining to the different regions.

    Programs/Activities:
    In summer, there are daily interpretive programs or films. In winter,there may be films or interpretive programs scheduled. Contact the specificcenter for information on scheduled activities.

    Food, Supplies:
    Local restaurants and stores are within walking distance of all thecenters.

    Other Concessions, NPS-Managed Visitor Facilities and Opportunities:
    Bookstores are found within the centers and are operated by the Alaska Natural History Association (Tok does not have an ANHA bookstore.)

    Accessibility:
    All centers are wheelchair accessible.

    RECOMMENDED ACTIVITIES/PARK USE:
    Visiting various exhibits, utilizing trip planning materials, viewingfilms, enjoying interpretive programs, or using the visitor informationdesks which provide information for 8 federal and state agencies with publicresources in Alaska.

    RESERVATIONS/PERMITS:
    Reservations and permits are not necessary to access the centers. However,permits and reservations for other facilities (such as USFS cabins, NPScabins, etc.) are handled through some of the centers as a service to thoseagencies. Contact the individual centers for more information.

    BASIC VISIT RECOMMENDATIONS:
    Spend a few minutes getting questions answered, or a few hours enjoyingthe exhibits, films and programs and planning your trip.

    SPECIAL EVENTS, PROGRAMS:
    Summer special programs offer a variety of activities, from geologicalwalks to slide/video presentations. Contact the individual centers formore information on what they offer. Participate in the "CelebratingWildflowers" month and find a list of activities at the center.

    VISITOR IMPACTS:
    The centers are closed on federal holidays September through May.

    ADJACENT VISITOR ATTRACTIONS:
    All centers are located downtown in their respective cities, so museums,other visitor centers, historical buildings, and parks are nearby.
